I would apply this to a typical week:
Monday: Yuch!
Tuesday: Another report?!
Wednesday: It's due tomorrow!!!
Thursday:: Re-write,
Friday: Finished.
Weekend: Break
Monday: Yuch!

Agreed… Teacher one's wrong.

Speaking as a student, I'd say the peaks around exam times ought to be valleys. But, then, I've heard that most people actually take the time to study for exams, so maybe your version is more typical.

Then what should it look like?

Teacher’s should have a large plateau before classes start and lasting through the first week. Then maintain a low level through the rest of the semester except for the week before an exam, where it spikes (writing exams is very time consuming), and the week after (grading).

Perhaps there should be an upward slope, instead of downward, between mid-terms and finals due to pre-finals preparation for students? I might be omitting something else Johnny & Bara have in mind…

…unless your course requires papers to be written and submitted on a regular basis, in which case that plateau should be mid-high throughout the duration of the course and super-high at finals time.
But I REALLY wish my life actually reflected what your teacher graph looked like!

As a student, i've flatlined

…. Unless you have a new semester every six weeks without more break that two or three days, or maybe a week. Then the "Ah break, Yay new semester!" palls somewhat, and very quickly.

I teach at a university and that's my semester almost exactly. Well done!

Yeah, definitely an upwards slope. Generally teachers get more stressed and wound up as the semester goes on.
