The System 517: The Universe
Do you think about it?
You know what you should be thinking about? OTAKON. This weekend. Come find me in Artist Alley, along the lefthand wall.

Do you ever consider the fact that a large majority of your fans do not live anywhere near Baltimore, and perhaps not in the US?
I know you can’t be all over the world, but sometimes it annoys me whenever I go anywhere there is “Meet us in X Convention!”

@krickit what do you expect him to do? He's gotta get the word out that he's making an appearance somehow, just because it's not near you or I doesn't mean we should go out of our way to express displeasure and ask him to stop advertising on his own site. His site, and his advertisement. You don't like it, don't read his comic, or mumble angrily to yourself and don't write stupid things on the internet. There's enough of it already here.

It’s more just this. “You know what you should be thinking about? OTAKON.”
Nope.

He is a guy, so probably contemplating something along different lines (no offense guys).
But not actually contemplating the universe per se could be deep because he could be in a state of: "Omphaloskepsis. A type of meditation where one stares at one's navel. Navel-gazing has come to mean anyone being extremely introspective or existential."
"When contemplating his or her navel, a character will sit quietly and contemplate the purpose of Life, the Universe, and Everything. In visual media, this can be accompanied by surreal visuals (sometimes an excuse to recycle material from previous episodes). In written media, this can involve long, usually internal monologues."
I would just contemplate 42 because it would basically encompass everything.

I have got my 95mW laser. The rest of the universe can go fuck itself.

I do consider that fact, and you're exactly right, I can't be all over the world. I wish I could! I do hit up mainly cons I can get to and that I know fans will be attending, which currently is mostly on the east coast. If any fan wants to see me elsewhere, the best thing to do is let me know with LOTS of advance notice so I can try and get there while there's still travel arrangements and table space available. Ideally if they can also let convention staffers know they would like me as a guest, that goes a LONG WAY as well.
As for it being on the site, I always keep such content below the comic, so while it might be a little irritating for some to see such posts, it's always secondary to why you're probably here on the site, the comics. And as Ryan points out, this is the most logical place to advertise where I'm going to be, and while I'd like to think everyone reads the "Appearances" page, statistics show me that just isn't the case. I try to always do it in a fun and different way, and it never takes the space of the main content.
