Why is email better then a phone call? Should be the other way around.

best is version of rodeo sex http://su.pr/2eJEGY breaking up is always hazardous, might as well make it interesting

    Good point! Fixed.

My husband's comment: "Someday, I'm going to serve you divorce papers via semaphore." Ha!

Also, I'm not sure why "snail mail" doesn't rank right alongside email. If someone broke up with me by mail, I'd be just as likely to kill him as if he did it by email. IMO.

How come semaphore is better than in person? Well, I guess if you break up with someone in person, they've got more chance to kill you.

Actually, all long-distance breakup methods are less likely to kill you than in person, as long as your ex doesn't know where you are.

    Totally agree.

“When You Care Enough to Send the Very Best” (Hallmark).
It shows you do care because you did "send the very best".
It is personal because it isn't just a plain e-mail, twitter, semaphore (or any other non-in-person method). The card can show sentimentality but yet you still write the message.

The disadvantage of in-person is you deal w/the crying, the guilt and the "can't we give it one more try."

But, remember one thing: How would you like someone to break up w/you. That would probably be the best method. Just remember that in this day and age, that person has the power to destroy you using all the media available. So, you might want to think carefully about the method you choose.

Ahha… my ex broke up with me via text. Even though he was planning to (and still did) visit me the next day. If I weren't me, I probably would've killed him.

Also: breaking up via facebook relationship status should be a hanging offense.

One of my friends was dumped via away message. This was in high school, but still…

"Blahblah, going out to the movies, and if this is Griffin I'm breaking up with you".

    Cold.

Murphy, that's a new low. Rosscott should include it in the graphic in between text message/FB/Twitter and email.

Personally, I care more about the honesty itself then the choice of medium used to move it.

I'd much rather have someone tell me ONCE though a phone call, text, email, or even semaphore (if I understand semaphore) that its over; than repeatedly tell me to my face that things are still on while being cold, aloof, and possible cheating on me.

For the record: I did dispatch an ex once via text message and I make no apologies for it. I was that fed up with her and felt that she wasn't worth more of an effort than a text message.

So if you break up with someone via semaphore, and then have awesome makeup sex… would that be semaphoreplay?

Timing of a breakup can also be a big factor the breakup process.

Once had a boyfriend in college who broke up with me over instant messenger the night before an 8am final. He'd known he was going to do it for a couple of weeks, and I'd even seen him a couple days prior. He said I was "one of the most considerate people" he'd ever met – apparently I didn't deserve the same treatment. I laugh at his cowardice and rudeness now, but at the time I was really upset.

If you've never heard of "Kelly" go to YouTube and look up the video for "Text Message Breakup". Kelly is a teenage girl character played by a comedy actor – and he also plays her father, grandmother, and brother. "Shoes" is his/her most famous video.

    Seen it, love it.
