The System 437: Sagan Overdose
November 9th would have been the 76th birthday of known turtle neck fanatic, TV personality and science-type thinker Carl Sagan. Be careful though, too much Sagan can be dangerous. Still, this video on its own does not exceed the recommended Sagan-dosage:
Makes you wonder what would counteract too much Sagan. So I’ll put this out there to you guys, what would counteract Carl Sagan? Is it like matter and anti-matter? Is there an anti-Sagan? A nega-Sagan? Or is it more like chocolate and vanilla, where it would be more of a Richard Feynman kinda thing? YOUR ANSWERS IN THE COMMENTS!

it could be diluted with something, or displaced with less dense or different nerdism, Bill Bryson? Randall Munroe?

How come I've never heard this song before? It's guaranteed to becoming stuck in your mind for days!!!
Now, if Feynman and Hawking had such ways to explain their theories, a lot more people might be looking to prove one of them.
As to the event started by asking for a pie chart: It's just too much for him to contemplate and the pale blue dot will only make it worse! He is becoming one w/the universe–Samadhi bliss. The eighth arm of yoga–Building on the 6th and 7th limb his concentration is no longer focused on a single thing but- is all encompassing., the transcendence of the self through meditation. The merging of the self with the universe. Sometimes translated as enlightenment.
You might try slowly bringing him back with the smell of cinnamon, then slowly, the smell of an apple pie baking.
If he is contemplating Feynman's theory of sum over histories as to how many paths a particle in space time can travel–you'll have a long wait. (I'd still recommend trying the above).
Remember remember, he did say, "If I could explain it to the average person, I wouldn't have been worth the Nobel Prize." So, if he is contemplating how to explain his theory in simple terms, it may take a while.
If he is doing Hawking and therefore contemplating the M-Theory, well, that could take some time as well. After all, he did say, “My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all.” Finding an answer to that would also take a bit of time. (I would still recommend the apple pie solution.)
Even the greatest mathematician and physicist need to eat.

To counteract Sagan you need a heavy dose of the things he makes us forget for a while:
Wars
Famines
Genocides and ethnic cleanings
…
The universe is beautiful, but the reality is brutal for a lot of people.
Sorry for lack of funneys.

Watch a clip from Jersey Shore. It'll lower your brain function in seconds. However, do not watch the full episode!! Watching a full episode leads to permanent brain failure.

To celebrate, (even a day late) the kids in my history classes will be taking a break from the 60's and the Cuban Missile Crisis will wait until Tuesday. It'll start with a reading of Little Blue Planet, then we'll watch an episode of Cosmos that touched my mind and soul as a kid (Who Speaks for Earth? which touches on nuclear war), and then to YouTube for a couple Symphony of Science vids with him in it.

Any overdose of anything intelligent can be easily countered with a quick trip to 4chan… and then liberal doses of brain bleach, or as the common people know it, alcohol.

There's only one cure for a Sagan overdose, and that's the Sagan-tidote.
