Where do you share?
Hey Systemics! I’ve got some things in the works and want your input, something I’m hoping to do more of going forward. For now, let’s talk about sharing for a sec. Your answers to any or all of these questions in the comments would help me help you to help me again. To sweeten the deal, if I get over 20 people to respond I’ll post custom artwork to this thread for all! So help a dude out and answer some simple questions as much as you feel comfortable:
- Do you ever share content from this site? Comics, blog posts, whatever?
- How often do you share stuff from this site with others?
- How do you go about sharing it? (Facebook? Twitter? StumbleUpon? Digg? Your tumblr / blog? A forum? Grabbing someone and having them look at your phone / computer?)
- What types of things do you find yourself sharing? Is there any sort of theme? (It could be “articles on design” or “comics with Jimmy the Murderdog”)
I’m going to take the answers and try to better set up the content to be shared the way you share them. Thanks, Systemics!
UPDATE: Since you guys were so helpfully amazing, here’s that custom piece of art I mentioned. This is from an upcoming postcard series I’m thinking of doing. Click on the tiny for the biggy.

I share mostly comics, about 1x/week, via Google Reader. Great stuff, love the site, general accolades, etc, etc.

Thanks!

I share comics or posts with sweet links, maybe every other week? almost always through GReader, can't recall if I've used Facebook or Twitter to share.

Yup, I share! Mainly comics.
Once a week sounds about right.
I generally use IM or identi.ca
And sharing is based on the awesoness of the post/comic.

I tend to share by pulling someone over to look at a comic, when something good comes up during my daily RSS crawl

I share by e-mail and through Google Reader. Mostly comics, although I'll share a design piece now and then.

always share through google reader (I share the best stuff, seriously). And occasionally through a gmail chat. Almost always comics, and never jimmy the murderdog. Never the design stuff. I don't share, but do enjoy the tumblr ABOUT the comics.

Grabbing people and showing them funny comics every now and then
August 17th, 2010 at 7:25 pm
I've def linked to this comic in general a few times in various mediums, but I will post favorite strips to my blog (http://www.traingeek.com/search/label/webcomic) – having embed links would be awesome, though I avoid hotlinking to strips unless the author specifically includes that link/code for sharing. I'm sure I've also done the more casual "here look at this" a lot before w/ friends sicne i do that all the time w/ stuff I like, but can't think of any patterns there offhand. hrmmm….prob retweeted once or twice too?

wait, wut?

I share the comics and only the comics on twitter, private chatrooms, and occasionally as a shared greader item. Usually they're about biking or Venn diagrams. They're pretty infrequent, maybe every other month or so.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:55 pm
I usually shoot someone a link from your site on facebook every other week or so.
August 17th, 2010 at 8:12 pm
I share, about once a month or so, on facebook, with no real pattern. Just the funniest comics.

Usually I share on Twitter, if I do share. I just retweet something from you.
The stuff I share is generally something that makes me laugh audibly or otherwise amuses me greatly. Like the last twitter avatars you made, because I requested that one. =)

Sometimes I re-tweet your tweets.
August 17th, 2010 at 8:52 pm
I post stuff on twitter about once a week, sometimes more. Mostly the clever comics but I do share the occasional article on Facebook as well. Love the site

i share mostly shit that makes me laugh. also some green themed stuff it seems….embarrassing
August 17th, 2010 at 9:24 pm
I share your posts quite often (at least 3 per week) usually through my blog, Twitter and grabbing someone to look at the screen. I started following because of your cycling comics so that would be the 'theme' that I share the most.
August 17th, 2010 at 9:40 pm
I share, mostly in person. Occasionally I retweet, but more often I’ll share with just one or two people on my phone or call them over to the laptop.
As to what, its kind of all over the place.
August 17th, 2010 at 11:04 pm
yeah I'm totally stalker like that.

Usually, events go like this:
- Discussion in Gmail chat
- Open new tab for browsing webcomics
- See interesting comics the person in the chat might like
- Send URL.
Usually the picture-based comics more than the text-based ones. Comics about tech-illiteracy and most of the ones with Police Guy tend to be shared.
August 18th, 2010 at 2:22 am
I share the comics mainly, sometimes the blog posts. Usually I show the link to my friend or have him go to the site on his computer. Sometimes I share via Facebook or Tumblr. Mainly I share ones that I think a specific person would like (bike ones to friends big into biking, design ones for myself and my other architecture student friends, etc.)
What's this about a tumblr ABOUT the comics??
August 18th, 2010 at 2:46 am
I often share comics about biking on the Twitters, and anything work/office related often gets emailed to coworkers.
August 18th, 2010 at 7:09 am
funny comics on google reader.

http://rosscott.tumblr.com/ is a new side side sideproject. I post random things that come up as well as comics from the site with some commentary behind why / how they were created.
