The System 375: For the Environment

This story is true (as much as I didn’t want to clean more dishes than I had to). What do you do to be lazy for the environment?

Also, a quick hello to all the Explosm / C&H readers visiting from my guest comic. Say hi in the comments! Oh, and stay tuned! New shirt premieres this week! If you want a hint, you might want to re-read this comic.

Have cats! They feed themselves, I mean, combat invasive animal species! And all other species, in fact.

Here's my list of lazine- I mean, "environmentally-friendly" things I often do:

    - Air-drying my hair instead of spending 10+ minutes on blowdrying – that saves electricity!
    - Letting laundry pile up and doing a couple of giant loads all at once – that saves water!
    - Microwave popcorn as a meal – no wasting gas on cooking!
    - Vegging out on the couch instead of going out – hooray for saving gasoline!

To be fair, I do usually turn off electricity-hogging items that aren't in use, like lights in a room I'm not in or computers at night and such. But really… this comic pretty well describes me. Yeah… I'm eco-friendly. That's it. *nod*

Not wearing pants=less laundry=less water & electricity used in washing and drying. So, that is eco-friendly. On the other hand, not wearing pants means being p/up by the police=their driving a car (=using gas) to arrest you after someone uses a cell phone to call them (which means using a battery), being processed means paperwork=using a computer=using electricity, etc.

I'd vote for eating something straight out of a container that can be recycled using utensils that could also be recycled. (I know that mfg. whatever you eat involves using energy, etc. but I think I'll let that go for this purpose.) Ice cream would work quite nicely. (If that was all you had in the freezer and you consumed all of it and not replaced it, you could turn off the freezer and save electricity. Not something I would even remotely consider.)

I left my parent's house to study in a special school and the microwave is my best friend since i don't have a dishwasher

I discovered this from your link on C&H, and I must say, this has been the best link ever.

I've recently just finished reading from first to last (since the link, I check C&H every day), I believe I'll be checking this also.
You're coffee addiction is a lot like mine, but if you put them on bikes, I'd do a wheelie and ride off.

    Also, pants.

  8. rosscott

    Amen, pants. Amen.

Speaking of coffee, stay tuned later today for a new shirt!

  12. rosscott

Wow, I must've accidently written about 300 comics about you. My bad.

  13. Pooky871

May I just say that having the ability to turn on/off consoles with the controller is the best invention EVER! I'm super lazy =P

  14. akaKathy

No worries, I'm more mountain biker than roadie. ;-)

  15. EcologicallyFriendly

I drink my water straight from the valve, and cut lemons, oranges and the like on my hand.
    For the enviroment of course.

  16. deathdragon

i must ask, are you lazy enough to turn off the system with the controller when the system is probably 8in from you?

  17. rosscott

    Yep!

  18. Nick

Hey there! Just came from Explosm due to your guest comic, and became an instant fan. Great catchy style, and I love Jimmy the Murderdog. I'm going to start calling my dog Jack "Jackie the Murderdog."

  19. Zev

    Time's i'm having fun :vs: time's i'm wearing pants.

Lets just say you wouldn't bet on that value being worth betting on.

If someone really wants to help the environment, they should just off themselves. Think of all the waste prevented and energy saved! Sorry to be so negative on a Friday…
