This is why I always start at the Internab step. Also, it cuts out the whole FILTHY HUMAN CONTACT thing.

The really sad things about dealing w/humans: The salesperson finds the item in the same place you looked; after retale, one clerk actually gives you worthwhile information. Very sad.
The joys of the internet: You don't deal w/humans.
However, w/some sites, if the site lists the item as out-of-stock, occasionally, if you then "speak" to a human (which I admit is next to impossible unless you have great patience, find something to do while waiting on hold, are totally immune to muzak), the human can sometimes actually find the item you seek. (I still like the internet better–except for shipping charges.)

if you don't like shipping charges, just buy more & a lot of places will ship for free! If not, I still feel that paying for shipping is usually better than dealing with salespeople…

Good point. Or, depending on the co., you might be able to order during a "Free Shipping" offer. Otherwise, spending more just to save shipping kind of seems counter-productive. But, if your experiences w/salespeople has been constantly bad, go to it!!
btw, never hurts to let management know if the service you received was poor. You would be surprised what they will do for you to keep you as a customer!

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I dig the human contact, and try to be as painfully nice as possible because I think a good portion of people who are too focused on getting their material can ruin anyone's mood. It doesn't matter whether said person is waiting for a business proposal or a large mocha latte, if they only consider getting the item they want and neither the work required to make it, nor the worker, then said person is an ass.
