Yup! That's the way it usually is. On the other hand, you could be the one hosting T'Day dinner and then everyone has to travel to you.
Should you decide to actually be foolish enough to do this, I would suggest purchasing EVERY SINGLE morsel–from soup to nuts (well, a REAL dessert would be better–ice cream cake in the shape of a turkey, cake cake, etc.) and serving it on paper plates and plastic silverware (recyclable, of course). Oh, use a disposable tablecloth and spread plastic on the floor under the table and extending to the seats. This way you avoid the traffic and the clean-up.
Not anywhere near *that* extreme. Immediate relatives (though not mine) came down the weekend before and left for home on Black Friday while the crowds were too busy shopping to remember to go home. The whole week was filled with good food and good company.
