Qutie the opposite happened to me. I posted that I was in the hospital on fb but my boss didn't get the message until I had to call him that I couldn't come into work.

I like that idea. Now if I HAD any friemployees, I'd use it upon those occasions when I actually want to do some work for which the company is paying me.
Obviously this would only work if your friemployees were not located in your office. Of course then if they come by to talk to you, you could just actually cough constantly into their faces. That would work as well but not be nearly as much fun. This did work well in the era before cell phones, twitter, computers, etc. (Yes, people, there was such a time. I know, it's really hard to believe.)

No, the idea is you sign in from home and say on Facebook or Twitter or something that you're sick.

OK, MY BAD, guys (that shouldn't be taken as males only). I realized (well, it was pointed out to me) that this really only applies to Twitter and Facebook. What can I tell you, I'm just not fully up on that new-fangaled technology. But, I did learn my way around Facebook, so that is progress. Now if I could only learn my way around my cell phone (just kidding).
And, if I learn enough of the computer "slang", my scores on Scrabble will improve!

It’s the icon besides the bookmark of the page, in the browser bookmarks (!) .. I think. Either that, or the icon besides the URL in the address-line.
