System in the Wild: Cup Runneth Over Edition

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Wow.  Wow.  Thank you to all of you who sent in such great SitW in the past few weeks.  There have been so many, I have gotten way behind with posting them.  I’m going to post a few today, and if yours isn’t in the first round be sure to check back Friday when I post many more.  Of course, if you have new ones to add to the mix, send over any System in the Wild finds to systemcomic at gmail dot com.

First up we have the Live Signage edition, brought to you by Systemics Amy and Darren (who both sent me the same awesome link).  It seems some people have found the perfect costume choice, and chosen to dress up as my very characters, doing a bit of performance art all over New York City (are you surprised it’s NYC?  I’m not).  Link.

Systemic (and new internet homie) Noah of Skull a Day and League of Space Pirates sends in this gem.  For some reason, the girl looks more like a guy in a dress.  Hmmm…  Link.

Next up is Systemic John, who sent in a whopping FOUR contributions to SitW.  I’m going to space them out over the next couple posts, and here is the first one.  Looks like someone is in need of a flat tire…

Well, that’s it for now!  Tune in Friday when we look at more SitW from Systemics Eric, John, Billy, Jess, and more if you send them my way.  Meanwhile, read the comic or something, will ya?

Double Fail

(Via my internet boyfriend.)  They are making really really really lame Watchmen costumes for Halloween.  They are so so bad.

The Comedian / Ozymandius

Night Owl / Rorscharch

ALSO, Nabisco aired an ad during the season re-opener of BSG that raises some interesting questions.  Nothing follows up a bloody suicide like tomato soup!

Unless this YouTube clip has been doctored, commercials for Kraft’s Nabisco Premium Plus crackers ran in the final episode of Battlestar Galactica, an episode in which one of characters commits suicide with a pistol to her head. (Skip the below clip if you want to avoid a gory scene.) In the Nabisco ads which immediately follow that image, Nabisco crackers thrown into soup bowls create fountains of splattering tomato soup, choreographed to a song whose lyrics are “I just want to celebrate another day of living.”  Link.
