American Dialect Society seeks 2008 word-of-the-year nominations

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Help shape the world as we know it, and submit some nominations for Word of the Year.  Thinks like “awesomer”, “the internets”, and the like need not apply, but “murderdog”, “cropdusting”, “aftershock”, and “perceived aftershock” are plenty acceptable.

The best “word of the year” candidates will be:

—new or newly popular in 2008
—widely or prominently used in 2008
—indicative or reflective of the national discourse

A Great Site (& Vote For Me!)

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

A new site has come across my radar, a place for you to vote on comics on a daily basis, tag, comment, etc.  It is powered via RSS and has a nice interface, which is also pretty awesome.  Better than that, Scott over at IIFT was kind enough to put The System on the site (in under 2 hours)!  Click this link to encourage you to vote for The System, but then please do check around the site.
